On 26-27 March, Georgy Rudnitsky (Executive Director of Project Office 5-100), his deputy Elena Chernyshkova, and Yulia Selyukova (Head of University Marketing and Academic Recruitment) visited Ural Federal University. On 26 March, the Moscow delegation met with the rector Victor Koksharov and Daniel Sandler (Provost for Economics and Strategic Development). One of the key topics was the coordination of the efforts of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia, the Project Office, and the university-participants in the Project, in the area aimed at promoting the Russian university education internationally. The parties also discussed a series of other important topics: resources, stimulation of the volunteer movement, staff improvement and improvement of the system of external assessment of the universities’ performance.
An important step in this direction is the upcoming University Fundraising Forum which will be organized in UrFU in June this year. Experts will advise the university fundraising specialists on how to attract finances for research, how to work with venture capital funds, and how best to coordinate with those members of each university’s alumni who are ready to invest in the development of their alma mater. According to Chernyshkova, “The Forum will provide an opportunity to discuss successful international fundraising practices and the most interesting Russian cases.” The agreement to organize this event in Yekaterinburg was the result of the negotiations between Koksharov and Rudnitsky.
The Executive Director of the Project Office also met with Sergei Kortov (Provost for Innovation at UrFU), Andrei Rastorguyev (Head of Innovative Marketing), Ekaterina Kraeva (Head of the IT Accelerator) and Dmitry Lavrinov (Director of a small innovative enterprise “Geomera”).
