HSE and UrFU Plan to Sign Memorandums with UFMG – One of Leading Brazilian UniversitiesSeptember 4, 2015
Veronica Haag (Coordinator at the International Programs Department at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG)) has arrived in Moscow as part of Project 5-100’s short-term exchange program. Her mission is to strengthen the cooperation between UFMG and HSE, St. Petersburg Polytechnic, and UrFU.
Ms. Haag is planning to visit these three Russian universities – all Project 5-100 members -- in order to better understand the organizational structure of the departments and services in charge of international exchanges, to learn about the best practices of these universities, and to meet the employees with whom she will be working in the future. Haag outlined the purpose of her visit: “I am planning to visit HSE, St. Petersburg Polytechnic, and UrFU. The goal of this trip is to strengthen our cooperation. I have brought a document of agreement between our universities which has already been signed by UFMG. We can now discuss how our student and teacher exchanges should be organized”.
Commenting on her visit to HSE, Haag noted: “We are also planning to sign a memorandum of understanding with HSE. The next step is to sign an agreement on exchanges. We are focusing more on arts, humanities and computer technologies with HSE, while with UrFU we are open to cooperation in all areas”.
The Russo-Brazilian exchange program was initiated by Project Office 5-100 and started in June 2015. The Russian side is represented by Project 5-100 universities, the Brazilian – by the university-members of the Brazilian Association for International Education (FAUBAI). The program is designed for administrative and managerial staff of the leading universities of the two countries. The first Russian participant – Svetlana Barannikova from TSU – visited the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG) in Belo Horizonte in July. The first Brazilian participant – Fernanda Cardozo came to work in HSE and St. Petersburg Polytechnic at the end of August. Maria Guzikova (Deputy Provost for International Affairs at UrFU) has visited UNESP and UFMG universities in Brazil and laid the foundation for the signing of the memorandum between UrFU and UFMG.
