London, 16th January 2018: The Times Higher Education (THE) announced the world’s 100 leading universities with the best student-to-staff ratio.

Russia has 4 universities among the top 50.

11 Russian universities are ranked overall, seven of them are Project 5-100 participants: Novosibirsk State University (42d), Peter the Great St.Petersburg Polytechnic University (49th), National Research Nuclear University MEPhI (67th), Tomsk Polytechnic University (84th), Far Eastern Federal University (88th), Tomsk State University (88th), Lobachevsky State University of Nizhny Novgorod (99th).

There are two more Russian universities, which are also ranked in the top-50 besides NSU and SPbPU. Bauman Moscow State Technical University (17th) is Russia’s leader in the rankings table, followed by Saint Petersburg State University (34th).

This rankings table shows which universities have the best student-to-staff ratios in the world to help students find out which universities could be best placed to provide this type of learning environment. THE believes that a lower student-to-staff ratio can help students to make closer connection with their lecturers, get quicker access to feedback, and participate actively in seminars and discussions, and reflects the attention which university teachers can give to their students.

The list has been prepared using data from the latest THE World University Rankings. As part of the rankings, THE collects information on the staff and student numbers of each university, and from this could be calculated the student-to-staff ratio.
