Moscow is one of the top student cities in the worldApril 13, 2018
THE ranking highlights Moscow in joint 7th place with four universities present.
Analysis of Times Higher Education (THE) data reveals where the world’s best colleges congregate. THE analysed the THE top 200 and top 500 universities to see which cities have the highest concentration of elite universities.
Moscow comes 7th. It takes “podium” position on the top student cities in the world together with Barcelona, Berlin, Frankfurt, Chicago, Tokyo, Los Angeles, and Milan.
Atlanta, Shanghai, Stockholm, Bay Area, Singapore, Beijing and Montreal follow Russian capital.
Moscow scores well with its four top 500 universities, and it is matched by MIPT, HSE, MEPHI and MSU. Three of these universities are Project 5-100 participants: MIPT (251–300), HSE (351–400), MEPHI (401–500).
This ranking featured cities, which contain the highest number of Times Higher Education World University ranked institutions. “Something to keep in mind is that some cities are significantly larger than others, which could be one of the reasons why they have more top-ranking universities. This could explain why there are so many high-ranking universities in London and Paris, compared with other major global cities,” explains THE.
The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2018 released on September 5, 2017, has revealed the top 1,000 universities in the world.
