17 Project 5-100 universities featured in THE Emerging Economies University Rankings 2018May 9, 2018
Times Higher Education (THE) announced the results of the Emerging Economies University Rankings 2018.
Russia is the fifth most represented in the table, with 27 institutions ranked - up from 24 in the previous year. Seventeen of the featured universities are Project 5-100 participants. This country has significantly expanded its representation in the ranking. This increase is mainly due to the progress of Project 5-100 universities.
Six Project 5-100 universities featured in the top 50 list of the best emerging economies universities: MIPT (11th), MEPhI (19th), TPU (21st), HSE (32th), TSU (36th), NSU (43th).
MSU is Russia’s leader in the rankings table retaining its elite position at number three.
Project 5-100 universities also have increased their representation in the THE Emerging Economies University Rankings top 100 of 2018: ITMO University (57th), KFU (60th), NUST MISiS (99th) has climbed an impressive 64 positions in the ranking.
Samara University has considerably improved its ranking’s placement over the past year and has risen from 251-300 to 123th position.
THE Emerging Economies University Rankings 2018 comprises 378 universities – expanded from 300 last year – from 42 countries, across four continents including China, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland etc. The ranking is based on the 13 performance indicators grouped into five areas: teaching (the learning environment), research (volume, income and reputation), citations (research influence), international outlook (staff, students and research), and industry income (knowledge transfer).
The results of the THE Emerging Economies University Rankings 2018 were revealed at the fourth annual THE Emerging Economies Summit, co-founded by Times Higher Education and Project 5-100.
