Main activities

University’s Mission is to form advanced educational, research and innovation infrastructure, promote new knowledge and technologies for solution of economic and social development problems in Siberian Federal District, along with development of human resource potential – training competitive professionals for priority spheres of development for Siberia and the Russian Federation, who meet the modern world intellectual demands. 

 The University Strategic Objective strives for development of intellectual capital and advanced high-tech education, that ensure sustainable growth of quality of life in Siberia, one of the basis of which will be training highly-qualified personnel capable of creative and practical activities, and generation of globally significant knowledge and technologies, fostering Siberian Federal District economic potential and global competitiveness of regional economy focus sectors.

Priority area of SibFU is comprehensive support of rational environmental management in unique territories – Taiga and the Arctic. In Russia, the University holds top positions in environmental sciences (sustainable forestry, geography, earth remote probing, biophysics, biogeochemistry etc.) by means of advanced scientific research and close cooperation with foreign universities and international organizations.

International students and faculty

There are 500 international students of all levels (Bachelor, Master, Doctoral and Internship programs) from 30 countries currently studying at SibFU. The largest numbers of students come from China and CIS countries – Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan. Other students come from Nigeria, Ecuador, Vietnam, Antigua and Barbuda, Venezuela, Colombia, Laos, Mongolia, Syria, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, etc. Exchange students from Germany, Japan, Czech Republic, Spain and China come on a regular basis.
At present, SibFU employed 21 international teachers from 9 countries of the world. In 2015 more than 150 visiting Professors and experts from 27 countries of the world came to hold lectures and seminars, coordinate projects, etc.
