A new department was opened in Orenburg State University – a faculty for international students. A solemn ceremony was held on 9 December. The faculty is aimed to provide overseas citizens who do not speak Russian with a preparation for Russian higher education.
The first intake to this department was launched this autumn. Today more than 70 people from the Republic of Chad, Egypt, Algeria, Somalia, France, Indonesia and Jordan are enrolled in the Faculty. Some of them have already arrived in Orenburg and began to study full-time. The rest are completing the necessary paperwork; they will soon join their fellow students.
I feel very comfortable in Orenburg, – shared his impressions a student from Jordan Alravashde Obada Younis Barakat. – All the teachers and volunteers help us in every way. I’ve only been here a month, but I already have many Russian friends.
The university stressed that the opening of the department for international students is one of the steps towards the status of an international university.
